Avionics Manufacturing Technician – Aerospace Programme
Morson Edge is looking for an Avionics Manufacturing Technician to join an innovative aerospace manufacturing programme based in Farnborough. This role sits within a cutting-edge aircraft production environment, supporting the manufacture, assembly and testing of advanced high-altitude aerospace platforms.

• Location: Farnborough
• Rates (ph): 23.29 PAYE / 31.16 Umbrella
• Contract: 5-month contract, possibility of becoming permanent
The Role
Working as part of a skilled manufacturing team, you will manufacture, assemble and test aircraft systems and avionics components, ensuring products are delivered on time, to specification and to the highest quality standards. You’ll also provide flexible support across the manufacturing facility as required.
Key Responsibilities
• Manufacture in-house avionics components to defined standards
• Assemble and test aircraft systems following engineering drawings and process instructions
• Maintain accurate build and test records
• Carry out dimensional inspections using calibrated jigs and measuring equipment
• Conduct and record functional, thermal and pressure test procedures
• Safely handle fragile and flexible aerospace components
• Adhere to Health & Safety, FOD, COSHH and tool control procedures
• Identify waste in assembly processes and support efficiency improvements
• Contribute to problem-solving and corrective action activities
• Escalate risks and implement immediate mitigation actions when required
• Support shop-floor safety initiatives
• Provide guidance and mentoring to new team members
• Maintain daily housekeeping and 6S standards
Essential Skills & Experience
• Experience working in a clean room or controlled manufacturing environment
• Understanding of ESD-sensitive environments and prior ESD training
• Proven ability to solder to a high standard (IPC certification or willingness to achieve)
• Experience in avionics manufacture, including microscope work
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and process instructions
• Knowledge of test equipment and ability to follow test procedures
• Hands-on experience in avionics hardware build and wiring installation
• Strong attention to detail and quality-focused approach
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure to meet production targets
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
Qualifications
• Completed Aerospace or Engineering Apprenticeship
• NVQ Level 3 in Avionics Engineering or relevant discipline
• IPC certification (or willingness to attain)
Desirable Skills
• Experience in Aerospace, Space or other highly regulated industries
• Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma or Pulse Line manufacturing
• Tool control experience
• IOSH / IOSHH awareness
• Willingness to travel if required
