Responsibilities
The Position:
Leadership responsibility for the Company’s general and financial reporting function and audit in compliance with US generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Responsible to lead the general ledger accounting team, fixed asset accounting team, and to determine the application of IFRS and US GAAP technical accounting standards to the Company’s recurring and ad hoc business transactions. Key player for the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting and financial reporting systems, including Oracle ERP, parent company line reporting, financial reporting, and parent company consolidation support. Responsible for workflow management of the close process and monitoring of internal control compliance via software and other tools including Blackline, spreadsheets, Oracle, and other tools in accordance with JSOX, Company, US holding company, and parent company corporate policies and internal controls. Serves as backup to the Revenue Accounting Manager as needed.
Accounting & Audit Management
- Lead on audit matters with external auditors including providing and supporting technical accounting analysis, quarterly reviews, and annual audits. Manages and coordinates accounting support for internal and external audit projects and audit requests, compliance assessments in accordance with JSOX requirements, support of the Company’s technical accounting approaches, and the monitoring of and compliance with Panasonic Corporate operating procedures.
- Performs technical accounting research and prepares technical accounting memos.
- Develops, documents, and implements PAC company accounting policy and administers its accounting procedures in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, JSOX, and Panasonic Corporate accounting guidelines. Also, supports the Company’s regulatory compliance requirements including FCPA and local and regional statutory requirements.
- Directs the maintenance of the companys general ledger and internal financial reporting. Ensures accurate integration of data imported into systems and supports the analysis objectives of financial analysts through coordination on reporting and offering technical accounting guidance.
- Lead the fixed asset accounting team to ensure the company’s accounting for fixed assets are properly recorded, disposed of, and verified. Manage the fixed assets accountants and coordinate with leaders of company departments and with company executives to complete the annual fixed asset verification and compliance with Panasonic operating guidelines.
- Provides senior management and staff (including executives, directors, and management levels) in making day-to-day and non-recurring accounting decisions and offers advice on various accounting aspects of potential company transactions.
- Prepares and reviews ad hoc and monthly financial reports to the parent company, unaudited Financial Statements for internal and external users, and Statutory Financial Statements for local jurisdiction financial reporting.
- Support the technical accounting application under IFRS 15 and ASC 606 to Company revenue contracts, and act as a backup to the Revenue Accounting Manager when needed to ensure revenue is recorded in accordance to US GAAP and IFRS.
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Assists financial analysts in the evaluation of departmental performance in accordance with budgetary goals, and company accounting requirements.
- Conducts special accounting studies, analyses, and assists with revenue and cost accounting treatments in accordance with technical accounting guidance.
- Prepares special accounting reports and assessments for company management and parent company and participates in special projects.
Staff Management
- Manage, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the accounting function and to provide career development and training for accounting staff.
- Participate in the Company’s performance review procedures including merit and bonus determinations.
- Oversee department budget.
The salary range of $131,000 – $220,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
Qualifications
What were looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or related Finance field degree.
- 5 years plus in a large public accounting firm with management responsibilities including the audits (component or corporate level) of public entities or other large entities with full statutory financial reporting requirements.
- 8 years plus of diversified accounting including experience with financial close and reporting, application of technical accounting guidance, and internal control monitoring and oversight.
- 3 years staff management experience
- CPA certification in good standing with current active status.
- Ability to manage multiple teams - provide guidance, review, and leverage resources from different teams to help company manage increasing volume of activities without additional hires
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills using pragmatic yet effective policies and procedures to implementing successful accounting and internal control approaches.
- Advanced technical accounting (US GAAP, IFRS) knowledge and the ability to research new accounting changes and prepare technical accounting white papers to ensure financial transactions are recorded appropriately.
- Lead technical discussion with external and internal auditors
- Excellent organizational, communication and internal/external customer service skills.
- Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
- Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business risks and trends.
