Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
Coordinate and assign jobs to machines and operators with minimal direction. In the absence of the supervisor, the team leader will be responsible for ensuring production continues and reports/requests are followed up. A lead person is not responsible for hiring, disciplining, terminating, or reviewing the performance of employees within directed team.
- Schedule and coordinate job duties with fellow employees based on production priorities and requests
- Provide instructions and assistance to operators as needed to ensure productivity in work area
- Share working knowledge of production work areas through on the job training
- Ensure process adherence by reviewing required paperwork such as 5s audit sheets, day by the hour, etc
- Assist with maintaining accuracy of inventory by completing inventory cycle counts
- Collect necessary data and present information at Town Hall meetings, Team Improvement Board meetings and other necessary location meetings as they occur
- Partner with production HPTs, engineering, supply chain and other department intiatives as needed
- Submit work orders on behalf of team members, open and close the facility if needed
- Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion, follow 5s practices
- Know and practice all safety regulations and quality guidelines
- Report production issues to Supervisor, Engineering or to Management
Perform work of an equal or lower classification
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (relevant experience, education and/or training):
- High School Diploma or GED, recognizes International Diplomas (may need to be translated to English)
- U.S. citizen or permanent residency status required
- At least three (3) years experience working in a manufacturing environment, must be familiar with operational processes in order to provide accurate technical and operational assistance.
- Must be able to read work orders and interpret manufacturing specifications, understand and use shop math, use and interpret measuring instruments (calipers, stop watch, gauges, micrometers, etc.)
- Must be able to write legibly, read and speak English
- Must be able to work and communicate with peers as a role model, requires strong communication between departments and all levels of the organization. Demonstrated leadership skills and able to lead by example
- Must be able to adapt to production needs to satisfy customer demands
- Must be flexible with work schedule, coming in on off shifts or weekends if needed
Basic understanding of lean fundamentals and ability to multitask preferred
Physical & PPE Requirements:
Standing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, reaching, banging, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), walking, working under normal conditions. Within Braiding & Winding: exposure to oil. Must have hand and eye coordination, repetitive motions and moving machine parts. Within Silicone Extrusion: exposure to inproclean 3800, methanol, chemlock, silicone, silane and silica. Must wear apron, face shield and long gloves when dipping hose. Within Vertical Extrusion: exposure to hot machinery (sintering ovens), fluoropolymer resin and isopar fumes. Will be required to participate in respirator program due to job task of blending carbon black for Direct Lead over PTFE extrusion. Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs (85-90 dB) are all required PPE when working in the mfg plant. Knee pads are optional PPE. All PPE provided by Company.
