Job Description

As a Sr. Test Technician, you will play a pivotal role in advanced hardware testing, supporting the verification of complex components and systems before they are integrated for critical use. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, technical problem-solving, and wish to see their efforts directly impact mission-critical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, and fabricate test components for component, assembly, and vehicle-level testing.
  • Build and operate custom test fixtures, instrumentation, and test equipment.
  • Influence the design and improvement of test systems, fixtures, and setups.
  • Fabricate electro-mechanical assemblies, fluid systems, wire harnesses, and test instrumentation.
  • Instrument test articles using strain gauges, load cells, and pressure transducers.
  • Operate and oversee complex test equipment, including environmental, altitude, thermal vacuum, and vibration systems.
  • Execute mechanical testing of composite materials, including coupon preparation, bonding, and machining.
  • Collect, document, and report test data to engineers and technical leadership.
  • Monitor, maintain, and coordinate upkeep of test assets and laboratory equipment.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and process guidelines while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Experience testing components, subsystems, or full systems in a technical or industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings, 3D models, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience fabricating cable harnesses from wiring diagrams and parts lists.
  • Experience building mechanical assemblies from drawings and use of machine tools such as saws, lathes, and mills.
  • Proficiency with electrical tools and test equipment (soldering irons, DMMs, scopes, power supplies, crimpers).
  • Experience supporting structural and/or systems-level testing.
  • Experience running tension and compression test machines and related software.
  • Comfort using computer applications to follow work instructions and document results.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety when working with hazardous materials and energized systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with environmental testing standards (e.g., vibration, thermal, humidity, vacuum, pressure).
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and control systems (NI cDAQ, cRIO, PXI).
  • Experience using NI FlexLogger.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools.
  • Soldering certifications (J-STD-001 or NASA-STD-8739.3).
  • Exposure to quality assurance or non-destructive testing processes.
  • Technical report writing experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile environments and tools such as Jira or Confluence.

Work Environment

This opportunity is within an aerospace manufacturer, offering a 4/10 schedule from 6 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. The role requires working with sophisticated test equipment and systems in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tustin, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00/hr.
