Partners with procurement and receiving teams in the receipt and inspection of high-quality aircraft parts & assemblies per Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals. Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the teams with the following requirements: Work from complicated blueprints, CAD models, Material Review Boards, dispositions, Piper Process Specifications (PPS), Piper Material Specifications (PMS), Purchase Specifications (PS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations, Quality Assurance Manuals (QAM), industrial/commercial specifications, various handbooks, travelers, engineering/tooling/rework orders, and written/verbal instruction. Ensure that only the latest approved applicable drawings, specifications, FAA Regulations, Quality Assurance Manual and instructions are used during inspection and testing. Inspect and test avionics equipment in accordance with technical specifications Use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, pin gages, thread gages, ohm meter, hardness tester and overlays of part profiles. Perform First Part inspections as required to include FAI packages in AS 9102 or other formats to determine if parts meet requirements. Accept/reject according to prints and specifications and recommend change or modification. Note and report deviations from established specifications and initiate required documentation to effect corrections. Work with support groups to recommend change based on data collected and salvageability of parts and assemblies where applicable Interface with engineering and support groups to support root cause investigations Conduct destructive and non-destructive tests. Measure parts for conformity with specifications. Examine materials for surface defects such as cracks and pits. Reject defective parts and span type of defect on parts, container, or inspection tag and place in bonded area until final disposition is determined. Examine articles for defects and sort articles according to extent of defect. Record defects that cause goods to be returned. Compare product with purchase order/invoice. Ensure compliance with FAA requirements. Utilize check fixtures to verify parts conformity. Maintain accurate and detailed records, files, and reports of all inspections and test conducted. Scrutinize every facet of job and report improper operation, faulty equipment, tooling fixtures, defective materials, and unusual conditions to Supervisor, Engineer or Procurement agents Perform housekeeping chores as department requirements dictate. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. |
