Job Title: Materials Testing Technician
Job Description
Join a leading technical manufacturing and test organization as a Specialist Materials Test Technician. In this role, you will support a Test & Evaluation team focused on validating advanced composite materials and structural assemblies. Your contributions will ensure materials, joints, bonding solutions, and component designs meet strict performance and quality standards before production.
1st shift - 4/10 6am to 4:30pm Mon - Thurs
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical materials testing, including tensile, torsion, compression, flexure, and shear using universal test equipment.
- Collect, analyze, and document test data; communicate results clearly to engineering and technical stakeholders.
- Interpret engineering drawings and follow manufacturing work instructions to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to testing efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.
- Maintain, monitor, and coordinate calibration of testing assets and environmental chambers.
- Operate and maintain universal test machines and thermal/humidity chambers.
- Machine, trim, and drill composite parts and test coupons to precise specifications as needed.
- Perform adhesive bonding of structural joints using paste adhesives and mechanical fasteners.
- Mentor junior technicians and support additional technical tasks as required to meet program objectives.
Essential Skills
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in composite materials testing.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and models.
- Experience using precision measurement and analysis tools such as optical microscopes, FTIR, and DGA.
- Hands-on experience with strain gauge bonding on composite test coupons.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and composite machining equipment such as saws, grinders, drills, lathes, and mills.
- Knowledge of shop-floor manufacturing and inspection technologies.
- Ability to follow digital work instructions accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with composite lay-up, vacuum bagging, and oven/autoclave curing.
- Familiarity with workflow or project tracking tools, such as Jira and Confluence.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, housekeeping, and tool control.
- History of process improvement or informal technical leadership.

Work Environment
The position is based at a manufacturing site, where you will work a 4/10 schedule from 6 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. The environment is safety-focused, supporting a culture of precision and high standards in testing and manufacturing processes.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tustin, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
