The Group Internal Audit department (GIA) is here to help Cathay fly strong as an independent assurance partner and advisor. Our mission is to add value by helping teams work smarter, operate securely, and manage risks effectively. We provide independent, objective assurance and advisory services that enhance governance, risk management and controls.
As the Head of Internal Audit, you will manage external and internal resources in carrying out risk-based audit assignments across Cathay Group, from goal and objecting setting, resources planning, defining responsibilities and deliverables to reporting on compliance, regulatory and governance risk-related audits and reviews.
You will also serve a critical role to ensure quality auditing, risk management and consulting services to be delivered in order to provide high level of assurance over all types of risks across the Group.
Key Responsibilities- Drive and promote the vision of GIA through close partnerships with management and senior executives to develop an annual risk-based, top-down and bottom-up audit plan for the Company
- Plan, monitor and lead risk-based audits for the Group, across the areas of operational risk and regulatory, corporate governance and compliance, cyber and data security
- Provide objective assurance and independent review on the adequacy and effectiveness of the Company’s risk management and internal control system to safeguard assets, improve corporate governance and guide best practices
- Prepare high quality audit committee paper or reports for the Audit Committee meetings regularly and complete the annual audit plan as agreed by Audit Committee and any special reviews
- Conduct high standard of quality audits through understanding of business and risks, proper identification of issues, preparing reports timely with high quality and communicating issues with senior management and executives with effective recommendations and solutions
- Conduct risk assessments, and identifies controls in place to mitigate identified risks and opportunities for improvements
- Ensure common fraud, errors and irregular transactions including ad hoc projects like whistleblowing investigations and fraud investigation support, as appropriate
- Supervise a team of seasoned Internal Audit Managers and provide training and coaching to them to develop a strong talent pool for the Group, and manage and supervise external and internal audit members, including guest auditors, in conducting meetings, reviewing documents and preparing working papers
- Work independently under general direction with extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgement
- Be responsible for department budgets and spending
Requirements- Degree holder with professional auditing qualification such as CIA, CPA or equivalent designation
- At least 12 years, of which at least 5 years in managerial capacity and preferably with broad internal and external Audit experience in internationally recognized accounting firms and sizeable organisations
- Possess high emerge level and strong work ethic with a commitment to continuous improvement in a dynamic and changing environment that strive to exceed expectations
- Strong leadership and analytical skills, and ability to work independently and in a matrix and remote environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including managerial courage, dealing with ambiguity
- A team leader who is self-initiated, independent and able to meet tight schedules with ability to create and maintain good working relationships with teammates and all levels of staff members from various business units
- Familiar with Data Analytics tool such as ACL or equivalent
- Excellent computer skill including excel, word, PowerPoint, ACL, IDEA, Tableau; programming capabilities, experience in SAP, WMS and POS are preferred
- Fluent in writing and speaking in English and in Chinese as a bonus
- Willingness to travel (up to 25)
