About Us Pratt & Whitney, a division of RTX, is a global leader in aerospace propulsion and innovation. At our AutoAir facility in Lansing, MI, we are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support our Ground Test Department. This key role will serve as the primary quality contact for operations, engineering, and materials, with a special focus on manufacturing and repair processes.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the central quality liaison within the Ground Test Department, supporting cross-functional teams including Operations, Engineering, and Materials.

  • Review engineering documentation to ensure compliance with quality assurance criteria and customer requirements.

  • Develop and maintain inspection plans to uphold product quality standards.

  • Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends and drive process improvement.

  • Lead or support internal investigations and corrective actions related to non-conformances, customer complaints, and returns.

  • Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) to resolve internal quality issues.

  • Conduct audits of quality systems, product lines, and processes to ensure ongoing compliance.

  • Collaborate with document control personnel to maintain current, compliant documentation.

  • Generate clear and concise quality reports for internal and customer-facing communication.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelors Degree and 5 of experience to include the following experience and skills; OR an Advanced Degree and 3 years of experience and skill to include the following:

  • Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

  • Hands-on Experience with PPAP, FAI, and PFMEA

  • Proficiency in querying data from systems such as SAP and Solumina.

  • Skilled at interpreting manufacturing drawings and 3D models.

  • Hands-on experience with 3D non-contact scanning equipment.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience delivering written and verbal communication across all levels of internal and external leadership

  • Proven ability to work with a results-driven mindset and resolve issues efficiently. Prior experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green or Black Belt)

  • Software knowledge: SolidWorks, Geomagic, GOM/ATOS, Creo, and Windchill, SAP and Solumina.

  • Experience with PowerBI, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint,

  • Strong understanding of aerospace industry standards such as AS9100, AS9110, AS9102, ISO 9001, and FAR 145.

This role is:

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
