The Position:
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer with expertise in Kubernetes security and certificate management to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls across our Kubernetes-based platform. You will also manage TLS certificates, secrets, and encryption strategies to ensure a secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Kubernetes Security:
- Design and implement security best practices for Kubernetes clusters, ensuring compliance with industry standards
- Secure RBAC (Role-Based Access Control), network policies, and container runtime security.
- Monitor and mitigate vulnerabilities in containerized workloads using tools like Trivy, Aqua Security, Falco, or Kyverno.
- Enforce Pod Security Standards (PSS) and ensure secure multi-tenancy.
- Implement audit logging, monitoring, and intrusion detection for Kubernetes environments.
Certificate & Secrets Management:
- Manage TLS certificates for internal and external services using Cert-Manager, Lets Encrypt, HashiCorp Vault, or ACME protocols.
- Automate certificate renewal and rotation to maintain security and service uptime.
- Implement secrets management strategies using Kubernetes Secrets, HashiCorp Vault, or AWS Secrets Manager.
- Ensure end-to-end encryption for data in transit and at rest.
Infrastructure & Compliance:
- Conduct security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management for Kubernetes and cloud environments.
- Implement Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) for microservices and APIs.
- Work closely with DevOps and SRE teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines.
- Assist in incident response, forensic analysis, and threat modeling.
- Ensure compliance with security frameworks such as SOC 2, GDPR, PCI-DSS, or HIPAA.
The salary or hourly wage range of $133,000– $223,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in cloud security, Kubernetes security, or infrastructure security.
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes (K3s, K8s, EKS, GKE, AKS) and container security.
- Experience with certificate management tools (Cert-Manager, Vault, ACME, OpenSSL).
- Proficiency in IAM, RBAC, OPA, Kyverno, or Gatekeeper for policy enforcement.
- Knowledge of network security, including CNI plugins, Istio, or Linkerd.
- Familiarity with SIEM solutions, threat intelligence, and intrusion detection systems.
- Hands-on experience with scripting and automation using Go, Python, or Bash.
- Experience with security tools such as Falco, Sysdig, Aqua Security, or Prisma Cloud.
- Strong understanding of encryption, PKI, and secure key management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), CISSP, or CEH certification.
