We are seeking a Distinguished Engineer to serve as a senior technical authority and strategic leader in designing and scaling next-generation cloud and Agentic AI platforms. This role combines deep expertise in AWS cloud architecture and developing and democratizing building Agentic applications. The Distinguished Engineer will drive technical vision, influence architecture across teams, and lead the development of highly scalable, secure, and resilient systems that power mission-critical applications. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who thrives in solving complex distributed systems challenges and shaping long-term platform strategy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Define and drive the technical vision and architecture for cloud-native and AI-enabled platforms across the organization
Lead the design and implementation of large-scale distributed systems using AWS services and microservices
Architect and optimize Agentic applications
Define and evangelize Delta’s Agentic architecture and establish the taxonomy of Delta AI Agents
Establish engineering best practices for scalability, reliability, performance, and security
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior engineers and architects across multiple teams
Collaborate with product, data science, and infrastructure teams to align technical strategy with business goals
Evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate innovative solutions into the platform roadmap
Lead architectural reviews and guide complex technical decision-making
Champion DevOps and automation practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code, even for building agentic applications
Ensure compliance with security, governance, and cloud cost optimization standards

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

15+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on large-scale distributed systems
Hands-on experience with AI driven development tools
Hands-on experience designing and developing Agentic applications
Deep expertise in AWS cloud architecture (e.g., EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, API Gateway)
Advanced proficiency modern backend frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Quarkus)
Strong experience designing and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments
Proven track record of leading architecture for high-availability, cloud-native systems
Experience with microservices architecture, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and event-driven systems
Strong understanding of data architecture, APIs, and system integration patterns
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders

Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field is preferred
Experience working in an airline technology environment is preferred
Experience with large-scale AI platforms or generative AI systems
Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Python or Scala
AWS certifications or equivalent cloud credentials
Experience in highly regulated or enterprise environments
Demonstrated success driving cross-organizational technical initiatives
