The EHS Generalist role, at our Goleta, CA location is very collaborative, and they perform tasks in areas such as Health, Safety, and Environmental and Compliance. The EHS Generalist formulates and administers EH&S plans and procedures including EH&S Program Management. They are responsible for multiple EH&S specialties and coordinate with business partners for EH&S concerns regarding facilities and employee practices. They ensure company compliance with existing, new, and emerging federal, state, and international environmental, health and safety regulations. The EHS Generalist manages relationships across other specialized departments to achieve and maintain compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements.
The EHS Generalist may need to travel to support Enterprise and Raytheon initiatives.
What You Will Do
Monitor, administer, evaluate and coordinate company EH&S programs to ensure a safe workplace.
Develop and advise employee workplace programs related to ergonomics and environmental compliance.
Coordinate confirmation of policies and programs in accordance with industry and government regulations.
Collaborate across departments to achieve and maintain consistency of EH&S program implementation.
Conduct regular site inspections for compliance with EH&S programs.
Lead internal and external regulatory inspections.
Interpret and communicate regulatory compliance and company policy to affected management and employees
Perform frequent compliance inspections of the worksite as required by company policy and regulations.
Analysis of leading and lagging safety performance indicators for trends to drive corrective actions
Serve as EHS representative for assigned building and functional safety council
Conduct injury investigations and root cause analysis, develop corrective actions and track to completion
Contribute to the development and implementation of EH&S strategic initiatives that drive continuous improvement
Develop programs, processes and procedures to improve EH&S programs, culture for employees and contractors
Support the improvement of business and site EH&S communications plan
Support emergency response and enterprise preparedness programs
Provide instructor led training on various environmental compliance topics
Provide support for other site EH&S programs such as safety and environmental
Support HazMat and Medical emergency response incidents
Support the site to meet EH&S requirements for upcoming internal and external audits including Cal VPP, AS9100 and other internal company assessments
Interpretation of OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI standards and regulations
Technical knowledge of EH&S processes and procedures. Applies these processes and implements improvements to established procedures.
Execute initiatives, programs, reports, permits and trainings across multiple EH& S disciplines, as required to achieve and maintain compliance.
Application of methods and techniques for hazard identification, risk assessment and control.
Conduct regulatory review and impacts analysis of moderate scope and complexity.
Conduct full site inspections and participates in compliance audits
Assist and develop materials for EH&S training and communications on subjects required by regulations including conducting EH&S training events.
Develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refer to policies and practices for guidance.
Assist with written and spoken internal and external communication. May help prepare reports, respond to surveys, develop, and maintain documents, and contribute to website content.
Ability to coordinate, facilitate, implement, and maintain management systems in accordance with the RTX EH&S Management System
Monitor key metrics and resources within their discipline
Interact with employees and promote relationships, learn the tasks employees perform and be known as a resource to the employees at the site. Work toward building partnerships and influencing across assigned areas to provide actionable improvement programs and facilitate the site EH&S programs
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
Experience with increasing experience supporting environmental, health and safety programs.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer
Prior relevant experience managing environmental compliance, ergonomics programs.
Experience in the development and execution of RCCAs
Experienced in conducting and developing creative EH&S training.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, but will not hesitate to seek additional information from supervisors or peers so tasks can be completed timely and correctly
Experience in HazMat Emergency Response. 40-hour HazWoper.

The salary range for this role is 62,000 USD - 118,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
